Granja Viana 500 Race Report From Michael Glaze

November 16 - Here is the Michael Glaze's Granja Viana 500 race report.
"Hi every one
- left for track at 9am, beautiful day not a cloud in the sky.
- When we arrived at the track there was lot of excitement in the air.
- We had our team meeting in the morning, where Sabia and the team wanted me to start, then Cody, Bradley, and Joe.
- About 11am we had our final kart weigh in, with all drivers.
- Getting closer to 12 noon we had our track drivers meeting, I couldn't understand a word.
- Race time was to be at 1pm, but with all that was going on it didn't start to about 1:20pm.
- Standing on the starting grid at 34oC and with 60 plus was drivers was exciting, wondering what was going to happen next.
- Well here we go 5 minute warning, then 1 minute, and we're off starting 42nd.
- I got a great and clean start, getting 10 spots or so on the 1st lap.
- Lots of traffic, but at the end of my 1st stint I was able to get to 8th spot on the leader board.
- We fell back to 18th after the pit stop I think, and Cody took us back up to 6th place, looking good.
- In Bradley's and Joe's stint, they did great, a few laps down but still in 10th spot after the pit stop.
- In my 2nd stint, moving into 8th spot, trouble struck, going into the sharp left hander I turned but no go, into the tire wall I went with a tire sitting beside me. (spindle broke)
- Well very disappointing, but this year they added every team has to do a 15 min lap on the scoring sheet, saved by the bell.
- The crew ran out on the track picked the kart up, carried it to the scales, we had to weigh, changed the spindle, tires, alignment, and check kart over and we we back on the track in a 16 min lap. (fantastic)
- Believe it or not we were still in it for a top 10 finish, as all other teams had to have a 15 min lap as well, I think we were still in the top 20 at this time.
- Cody and Bradley were working their way forward, when early in Bradley's stint disaster struck again the motor let go.
- Again the crew ran out, got the kart, weighed, changed the motor, and Bradley went back out in 31st spot. (very disappointing)
- Sabia wanted me to finish and try and get what we could out of it.
- Starting 27th in the final stint, I drove my ass off to try and get every position I could, driving at this time was getting aggressive.
- Approximately 12 midnight, after 644 laps, I crossed the finish line in 16th spot to a shower of fire works on each side of the finish line, very cool.
- A very disappointing, yet exciting day, as I think we were capable of a top five finish if all was well, but that's racing.
- Said good bye's to the crew and got back to the hotel about 1:30am.
- Good night and I will see you all at home.
Mike"

Granja Viana 500 Day 3 Report From Michael Glaze

November 14 - Here is the latest from Michael Glaze as he continues to prepare for the Granja Viana 500.
"Brazil day 3
- left for track at 10am, nice morning.
- Late start for practice, due to controlled practice session today with 3 groups each 45 mins long, we are in the 3rd group out.
- We had the draw today to get our 2 race motors, each team draws for 2 sealed motors.
- My first session out testing both motors, I was the fastest on the team with a 57.9, 5th fastest in the group.
- Rained after our practice session for about a hour, then it got hot.
- My second session out was better, as I got down to 57.7, 2nd fastest in our group, and the fastest on our team.
- Our team had 4 practice sessions 45 mins long, with 2 drivers splitting each session.
- At the end of a long day, 10pm Brazil time, our crew chief Sabia called a team meeting, where he chose me to qualify for the team tomorrow.
- Got back to the hotel at 11:30pm, I'm beat good night.
- We are leaving the hotel at 7:15 am for pre-qualifying practice."

Preliminary Granja Viana Report From Michael Glaze

November 13 - Michael Glaze has provided us with a quick summary of his experience so far in Brazil.
"Brazil day 1
- All is well, and no problem with the flights.
- Arrived in Brazil on Tuesday morning, at 10:10 am Brazil time, weather is great.
- Met US team mates, Cody, Bradley, and Joe.
- After hotel check in, we went to the track for kart adjustments, and to meet the crew.
- Practice starts tomorrow.
Brazil day 2
- Wednesday morning, raining on way to track.
- Rain stopped as we got to track, delayed practice for a while to let track dry.
- I was first on track for the team, 58 sec. flat on a green, damp track. Fast time for track is 57.4, thumbs up from crew chief.
- As the heat of the day came on, the kart's handling went away and adjustments were made, (axle, front end, etc.) which brought my times back in the low 58 sec. respectable for the field.
- Practice ended at 5pm, just as the rain started to fall."
